Seating foam is produced from mixing two key chemicals, a polyol and an isocyanate with water. These are combined in industrial mixers with other ingredients, and the foam reaction begins almost immediately. Bubbles form, and the mixture expands. In a very short time, the reaction is complete.

Types of Foam

Upholstery

Howard’s sells upholstery foam cut to your measurements as well as full sheets
in a range of densities and firmnessess. Bring your cushions or projects in to our store for the most accurate measurements and cost. Most days, our stock allows us to have your cushions back to you the same day. We provide foam for all types of furniture; sofas, chairs, ottomans and footstools, barstools, wheelchairs, and even portable cushions for stadium use or where public seating isn’t adequate.

Foam comfort levels are varied for your seating needs. The foam you need will depend on usage and personal comfort.

1835 and 2635 foam numbers represent a lighter foam with a fast compression rate. This foam would be appropriate seating for smaller people; 50-125 pounds
1845 and 2645 foam are medium in density and is good for people 125-225 pounds.
1850 and 2665 foam are high density, and are best for people over 225 pounds

Natural

Natural or organic foam is a healthier option when determining your foam choice. If you’re creating a healthy space, be it residential or commercial, 100% natural latex foam is your choice. Traditional mattresses put off toxic chemicals into our homes…where we sleep! Their petroleum based foam and chemical flame retardants degrade into dust particles we breathe, compounding health issues. Made almost exclusively from rubber trees, all natural foam mattresses are void of the toxins and are a beneficial alternative. Perfect for use when allergies are prevalent.

Outdoor

Outdoor foam is an open cell foam and is available here at Howard’s. It can be
purchased in full sheets or cut to order. As a standard, outdoor cushions are manufactured using polyfill fiber. It is inexpensive, however it is a low-quality product that flattens quickly. When your cushions sad or compress, consider replacing the fiber with outdoor foam. Just bring in your current cushions for an accurate measurement and price! Most outdoor cushion foam orders can be filled within a few days. We have a variety of outdoor foam to choose from, including waterproof outdoor mattresses, replacement outdoor foam for patio
cushions and custom-cut outdoor foam.
